ANNA MADSEN –
Concord, New Hampshire in the USA is where Anna Madsen currently resides but it originally from Utah. This talented singer-songwriter conjures up dream like images with her atmospheric light alternative pop music. Her first full length album “Efflorescence” is out now.
On first listen to the song “Palm Reader” I sense a little Tori Amos, a little Enya, a little Suzanne Vega which is an unusual mix but it works, throw in the odd little Kate Bush vocal and this is what you have. The album is a really nice listen, theres always an emotional, passionate vocal sometimes accompanied by piano, guitars, drum loops and various other musical backing that gives a rich, dreamy sound that draws you into a kind of mystical world.
Anna is a very talented lady, outside her music project she is also a photographer and actress. The film “Granite Orpheus”, which is scheduled for release this year has an acting credit for her and the soundtrack features two of her tracks including “Palm Reader”, which was the title track from her first E.P.
My favourite tracks on the album are “Cimmerian” and “Soldier Song”. On finding the video for “Palm Reader” on YouTube which was so mesmerising I had to search for more songs from this intriguing new artist.

Ferris are an Indie Rock/Pop band from Leicester in England. The band consist of Scott Grocock (lead vocals and guitar)/Rob Bourgault (guitars an vocals)/Nick Wale (drums, percussion and vocals). The band have been on the scene since 2001 although the current line-up have been together since 2011. Their music is a 60s and 70s influenced Rock and Roll fusion. Great musicianship and harmonies that sound like the great “beat” bands of that time.
The band have been creating a great live following and have already supported Reverend And The Makers, The Alarm, Crowded House and Radiohead as well as appearing in the Isle of Wight festival. The band released a self-produced album titled “Speak Up” in 2013.
I could only find their second album “Pathfinder” downloadable in Russia only! However, I have heard enough tracks on Soundcloud to see the talent in these guys. Hearing Pathfinder via YouTube it is more Psychedelic sounding than the previous album, basically the first album is set in the 60s and the second the 70s.
The band released their own World Cup song for the national team in 2014 entitled “A Love As Big As England” which got lots of airplay on the radio. Tracks to look out for by the band are my favourites “Castle Road” and “Do You Mean It”. I sense big things and they’ve earned it for sticking together so long. The band should make the tracks readily available to all so we can hear the great music but other than that, check these guys out!

FRANKI LOVE –
Franki Love is a singer-songwriter who lives partly in Los Angeles and partly in New York. She has been nominated and won awards for her work and also composes music for TV shows, video games and movies! Not bad for the lady who started performing in local coffee shops to try and attract attention to her amazing talent.
Franki released her self-titled album in 2007 which includes her hit song “Shadow” which was voted Single of the Year at the L.A. Music Awards (in which she also won “Female Singer/Songwriter of the Year”!). The album also includes “Love Like It’s Never Gonna Hurt” which won best song from Songwriter Universe. I also love the song “Angel Kisses” on this album.
Franki has a beautiful breathy, sultry vocal that is such a pure sound, and with either guitar or piano backing it creates a really lovely sound. Hard to pinpoint who she sounds like so I won’t make any comparisons, sometimes that’s a good thing. I would possibly say there is a little Michelle Branch, Cyndi Lauper, and Susanna Hoffs but that would not do her unique voice justice.
Franki will be releasing a new album soon, entitled “Otias”, funding the album via Kickstarter and dedicated to her mother, who sadly passed away in 2013. Franki also donates time to the non-profit organisation Soldier’s Angels. This lady is sure to hit it globally soon, this talented, hard working lady should get her rewards.

Lyerr hail from Manchester, England and the four piece Punk Rock band are Ryan Johnson on vocals and guitar, Samuel Greene on guitar, Rory Magner on bass and James Kershaw on drums.
Although only starting out in 2015 the band are rapidly building a following with their live exploits. No singles or albums have been released yet but two teaser tracks are doing the rounds on the Internet on various media outlets. The band play the more tuneful area of Punk Rock similar to The Stranglers and The Jam on their early recordings.
The track “Miss Bright Ideas” is like a Stranglers/Razorlight hybrid whereas “NYC” could be a Jam song but also has leanings to Billy Idol in his Generation X days and also reminds me of “Is Vic There?” by Department S in parts. From two tracks you can hear the promise of this band.
Let’s hope the band can get noticed and earn the right to release a single, E.P. or album and lets hear more from these guys. Lots of promise and Punk Rock as it should sound from late 70s/early 80s!
